The Frick-Web site has been getting a lot of blog comment spam in the last days, but no longer. I integrated an akismet anti spam plugin which was developed originally from Ryan Bates. This plugin uses the akismet web service to check if a comment is spam or not. You can find the plugin here [LINK].
Ryan Bates did a railscasts about this plugin a few years ago. So just check it out, i think it is very useful and really easy to integrate into a rails application. Just follow the railscast and your blog is free of annoying spam attacks from now on.

It's the year 2012 now and it´s time for a new design and a new logo for my Frick-Web Homepage. I completely rework the design of my homepage. From the technical view I just updated the homepage from Rails 3 to Rails 3.1, fixed a few bugs and integrated akismet spam protection in blog comments.
Feel free to give me a feedback about the new style of my page, I would be happy about that.
Thanks to Cynthia Stippich for the excellent new logo!

Now all my examinations are finished for this semester. So now it is time for relaxation. I think i will read "Service-Oriented Design with Ruby on Rails" from Paul Dix. Maybe it will cover some topics from my master thesis in future. The book is from the Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series and worth a try to read out. By the way it is available on amazon.
I think it is a good book, I already read the summary of it, but I will tell you my opinion again after reading the whole book.
Have a nice day folks :-)!

The mercury editor for rails allows you to edit specified sections of your HTML directly in your web browser through a WISYIWYG editor. I think this editor is worth a try! I tried it today in one of my projects and I think mercury contains some nice and very useful features.
Here are some useful links to this editor. The first one contains the github-repository, the second one is a very nice tutorial from Ryan Bates at railscasts.
